Sonya Dreizler is a speaker, author and consultant focused on fostering candid conversations about gender and race in financial services. She is also a subject matter expert in ESG and Responsible Investing, and a former CEO of an independent BD/ RIA.

She is a sought after speaker for national financial services conferences, writes for Morningstar and Financial Planning, and she authors Connected Investing, a popular educational newsletter covering race and gender in finance as well as her insights on ESG and responsible investing.

Sonya is a former financial services CEO with two decades of industry experience. She is a respected leader, practical thinker, and consensus-builder with excellent communication skills.

Sonya previously spent 13 years at Protected Investors of America, a boutique Broker Dealer and SEC registered Investment Adviser.  She started at the firm as an executive assistant and took on increasing roles in the firm, eventually rising to COO, and then CEO.

She previously held the Certified Financial Planner™ designation as well as the Series 7, 66, 24, and 28 securities licenses. She is a recipient of the Investment News 40 Under 40 award, is a 2018 LinkedIn Top Voices Recipient, is on the Refinitiv Social 100 list for 2020, and was in Financial Planning’s 20 people to watch for 2020. She is a member of the Racial Justice Investment Coalition, and sits on advisory boards for several industry events, initiatives, and companies. Sonya speaks frequently at conferences, including virtually, and has published articles and been quoted in numerous trade publications. Sonya is on the board of CUESA, a nonprofit dedicated to growing thriving communities through the power and joy of local food. How Event Planners Can Prevent Burnout

How to give yourself permission to quit and still keep going in your journey? Sounds impossible, but that's exactly what Tez Steinberg did during two solo ocean rowing expeditions. Tez completed two world-first solo ocean rowing expeditions, spending 197 days alone at sea. He's the only person to solo row from California to Hawaii without rowing experience, and he's also the only one to row solo nonstop from Hawaii to Australia. When storms hit, when equipment failed, and when he desperately wanted to be rescued, he told himself he could quit—"just not today."
