She was also the first surfer at an Olympic Games who is Hawaiian.
Moore began her professional career in 2010, qualifying third in the WSL World Championship. She became Rookie of the Year and has since become a five-time WSL Women’s World Champion. Moore founded the Moore Aloha Foundation in 2018 to share her love of surfing through events aimed at bringing young girls together.
The Moore Aloha Foundation has partnered with several major surf events. These include the Super Girl Surf Pro, the Hurley Pro, and a surf-inspired workout with Surfset NYC and Gillette for their #SkinInTheGame campaign. Moore also started the Moore Aloha Global Exchange, where she selects five girls to spend ten days training with her in Hawaii.
Moore is an excellent motivational speaker and an incredible role model for young women. Since winning her Olympic gold medal, Carissa has been interviewed by Today, Shape Magazine, RedBull, and podcasts like Finding Mastery.
